Wailea Beach is unquestionably a study in beach perfection, and if you don’t mind a resort vibe (and a crowd to go with it) this is a truly outstanding beach. The beach is wide, the sand perfect, and the ocean inviting. Views of Kaho’olawe, Molokini, Lana’i and the sights (and sounds) of whales are common in winter. When the ocean is calm, snorkeling is very good around the rocky outcroppings that define both ends of the beach. Boogie boarding and body surfing are also fun in the typically regularly formed, small waves and gentle slope.

A pair of beautiful sandy crescents join to form this beach. The south end fronts the Polo Beach Club and the north side the Fairmont Kea Lani hotel. At times, the north end becomes crowded with Kea Lani guests, cabanas and lounge chairs; the south end is usually uncrowded. A small grassy park with showers, bathrooms, picnic tables & BBQs is removed from the beach and resort. The tables and BBQs are infrequently used because they don’t have much of a view and feel sandwiched between resort buildings and the parking lot. Plenty of parking and real easy access.

There are three Kamaole Beach Parks in Kihei, on the sunny south side of Maui. They are officially called Kamaole Park I, Kamaole Park II and Kamaole Park III. But Maui regulars refer to these beaches and their adjacent parks by their nicknames, Kam 1, Kam 2 and Kam 3. Technically, they are each spelled with a Hawaiian okina, which looks like an apostophe, like this: Kama'ole. The three Kamaole beaches are numbered from north to south. They are all in the south half of Kihei, south of the Azeka shopping centers and Kalama Park, but north of Wailea. The Dolphin Center and Rainbow Mall are two shopping centers across the street from Kam 1 and Kam 2. Kam 1 has the largest beach. But Kam 3 has the largest park, with a beautiful grassy area for relaxing, picnicing and people-watching. There are picnic tables, restrooms and outdoor showers in the parks beside each beach. Each of the three parks has a free parking lot or adjacent free street parking.

Kalepolepo Beach Park is a small beach with some of the best swimming waters in Maui. Since it is wedged between two seawalls, the water is calm and perfect for younger swimmers. What once was a Hawaiian village and fishpond is now a popular sand and sun destination for beach-bound visitors. Curious visitors can visit the nearby Koieie Fishpond, one of the last remaining testaments to Hawaii's ancient technique of aquaculture.

The art of delicious food has shaped Salvatore Cucullo Jr.’s life. As a boy, he worked in his grandfather’s pizzeria, and later at a family –owned restaurant. No one was surprised when Salvatore attended the Culinary Institute of America, followed by an externship at the exclusive Caf’e des Artistes in New York. In May 2010, he and business partner Lynn Kozy opened The 808 Bistro, where every customer feels like a part of the family. Salvatore owner/chef says his cusine is described as “Italian without borders”- with French , Asian, Mediterranean and Latin influences. Using only the freshest, predominantly organic ingredients, the menu’s updated frequently to keep it seasonal. “ I’m very passionate about food and believe as a chef that I’m never more important than my ingredients”, says Salvatore. Traditional Italian chicken, veal and fish are always offered, and the restaurant accommodates special request.

Maui Brick Oven came about because two of the owners (who are also the chefs) were diagnosed with Celiac Disease (severe wheat allergy). After discovering how hard it is to find a gluten free environment, it was decided to turn this problem into a blessing for others. Patrons enjoy not simply great pizza, but the menu also offers a variety of other options - from appetizers to delicious entrees and desserts. Most everything is made from scratch and includes local, organic, and natural ingredients.
